SECOND LANGUAGE RESEARCH FORUM 2026
ACCEPTED FOR ORAL PRESENTATION
Our work on Near-Peer Dialogic Teaching (NPDT) was accepted for an oral presentation at the 2026 Second Language Research Forum (SLRF), hosted by the Université de Montréal in Montréal, Canada.
The acceptance represents an important milestone for the NPDT project and provides external academic recognition of the work. It also suggests that the questions addressed through NPDT are relevant to wider discussions in second language acquisition and language education.
ABOUT SLRF
The Second Language Research Forum is an internationally recognized conference in second language acquisition. First held at UCLA in 1977, SLRF has since been hosted by universities across the United States and Canada and has developed into one of the leading SLA conferences in North America. It brings together established researchers, early-career scholars, and graduate students working across a wide range of theoretical and empirical areas in second language research.
SLRF 2026 was hosted by the Université de Montréal under the theme Language Teachers and Researchers without Borders. The conference featured plenary talks by scholars including Luke Plonsky, Sunny Man Chu Lau, and Yuichi Suzuki, alongside paper presentations, colloquia, workshops, and poster sessions covering current research across SLA and language education.
WHY THIS MATTERS FOR NPDT
The exchanges surrounding SLRF further shaped how we think about the next stage of NPDT. They helped us identify new directions for refining the framework and for examining its classroom processes more closely.
They also opened up opportunities for future academic collaboration, creating new possibilities for developing and testing NPDT with researchers who share related interests.
These ideas now feed directly into the next phase of the project.
